Neal Carruth Named GM Of Podcasts At NPR

NPR has named NEAL CARRUTH as GM of Podcasting, a new position, starting after THANKSGIVING, reports POYNTER.  CARRUTH has been with NPR for 17 years, most recently as Supervising Senior Editor of the network's Business Desk and Managing Director of the NEW YORK bureau.

CARRUTH will oversee original podcasts "PLANET MONEY," "POP CULTURE HAPPY HOUR," "NPR POLITICS," "EMBEDDED,' "HIDDEN BRAIN," and "CODE SWITCH."   A memo from VP for Programming and Audience Development ANYA GRUNDMANN and VP of News Programming and Operations CHRIS TURPIN said that CARRUTH "will support the teams working on those shows, strengthen connections between our podcast portfolio and the newsroom and member stations, and support innovation and new program development across NPR as a key member of the newly expanded NPR Story Lab."
