Presidential candidate HILLARY CLINTON spoke with SIRIUSXM’s JOE MADISON today. Below are some highlights from the conversation.
CLINTON on her first 100 days in office if elected President:
"I want to hit the ground running.... We’re going to have a big job program, make some investments in people so they can be empowered to make the most out of their own lives, in infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, clean energy jobs. We’re gonna fight to raise the national minimum wage. I want us to make sure that we raise and guarantee equal pay for women, and that’s particularly important for AFRICAN AMERICANS and all women to be paid fairly. I also want us to do more for small business, and the leading group of people in AMERICA who are producing for small businesses and therefore need some more support are AFRICAN-AMERICAN women. And, we’re going to get to work on making college more affordable."Audio can be heard here.
On why AFRICAN AMERICANS should vote for her and voting for something vs. voting against something:
"I have been doing this work for more than 30 years. I like to compare what I’ve been doing with what my opponent did back in the 1970’s I got out of law school, I went to work for the CHILDREN'S DEFENSE FUND. I worked to end the kind of abuse of young people in adult jails and prisons, going to SOUTH CAROLINA to investigate that. I worked to end the efforts to give segregated academies in the south tax-exempt benefits, I was going down there undercover. I worked to get kids with disabilities into public schools. What was he doing? He was being sued by the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT for discriminating against AFRICAN AMERICANS who wanted to rent apartments in the buildings he owned. I am committed to building on the progress that we’ve made under PRESIDENT OBAMA and I’ve laid out a comprehensive agenda to do that."
