'The 50th Annual CMA Awards'

Last NIGHT (11/2), "THE 50TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS" celebrated the history of Country music while honoring some of TODAY's brightest stars. PEARL RECORDS artist GARTH BROOKS walked away with top honors, taking Entertainer Of The Year for the fifth time in his career, while MERCURY NASHVILLE's CHRIS STAPLETON and ARISTA NASHVILLE's CARRIE UNDERWOOD won for Male Vocalist Of The Year and Female Vocalist Of The Year, respectively, and CAPITOL NASHVILLE's LITTLE BIG TOWN scored their fifth consecutive award for Vocal Group Of The Year.

"I never thought I'd be able to come back," said BROOKS. "And when you come back, you never think you're going to get to hold one of these [CMA trophies] again. Awards are for younger artists, so the older you get, the more precious [they are]."

Special performances uniting past and present highlighted the evening's events, including a powerful opening medley featuring VINCE GILL, BEN HAGGARD, ROY CLARK, BRAD PAISLEY, CARRIE UNDERWOOD, CHARLIE DANIELS, DWIGHT YOAKAM, CHARLEY PRIDE, REBA, ALABAMA, RICKY SKAGGS, ALAN JACKSON, CLINT BLACK, and RANDY TRAVIS. BROOKS and TRISHA YEARWOOD performed their own medley of classic hits and duets mid-show, and later in the evening, STAPLETON and YOAKAM united for a performance of the WILLIE NELSON and RAY CHARLES duet, "Seven Spanish Angels." GEORGE STRAIT and JACKSON performed together, and BROOKS & DUNN were reunited and joined by JASON ALDEAN. Additionally, an all-star tribute to DOLLY PARTON featured PENTATONIX, JENNIFER NETTLES, UNDERWOOD, REBA, MARTINA MCBRIDE, and KACEY MUSGRAVES.

Other noted performances from current Country artists included appearances from MAREN MORRIS, ERIC CHURCH, DIERKS BENTLEY with ELLE KING, UNDERWOOD, KEITH URBAN, PAISLEY, KELSEA BALLERINI, LUKE BRYAN, TIM MCGRAW, MIRANDA LAMBERT, THOMAS RHETT, LITTLE BIG TOWN, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE featuring MCGRAW, and DIXIE CHICKS with BEYONCE.
