CUMULUS MEDIA/DES MOINES, IA brought their community together on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6th for a world record-setting "FriendsGiving" event that helped bring awareness and donations of food and clothes for area people in need as the THANKSGIVING holiday approaches.
The cluster, which includes Country KHKI, Classic Rock KGGO, Country KJJY and Urban Oldies KWQW, held the event with partners PRAIRIE TRAIL in ANKENY, IA, and JETHRO'S BARBECUE. More than 600 people came out to set a GUINNESS World Record for the "Largest Number of People Breaking Bread" and enjoyed a traditional holiday meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pie, as well as games and live music. The event benefited HOPE MINISTRIES, which feeds about 450 people a day.
Event organizer, CUMULUS MEDIA/DES MOINES Dir./Marketing, NTR & Integrated Sales ELIZABETH STEWART said, "Obviously, that number climbs during the holidays. We tried to come up with a fun way to get people talking about it and engaged in the conversation of how they can help people right in their community with clothes and food donations."
