THE FRANTICS, the Canadian comedy troupe, has announced the return of its popular '80s CBC radio series "FRANTIC TIMES" as a podcast comprised of "best-of" material from the original tapes. The group is raising funds to do the necessary production work via INDIEGOGO, with the goal of posting the shows starting in early 2017.
"With less than a week to go in the campaign we've surpassed our modest goal by more than 80%," said founding member PAUL CHATO. "The money raised will fund a professional producer to sift through 3,300 minutes of FRANTIC TIMES radio shows -- an insane amount of material -- bring them up to the highest broadcast standards, then package them into 50 half-hour podcasts."
The original show, with CHATO, RICK GREEN, DAN REDICAN, and PETER WILDMAN, aired 110 episodes from 1981-84. "There's enough material for more than 100 half-hour podcasts, but we plan to produce half that number," CHATO said. "We didn't just want to make this a walk down memory lane of interest only to rabid FRANTICS' archivists. Of the 50 shows we eliminated, some use music we can't license, others are irrelevant for 2016, and a few weren't that funny in the first place."The fundraising will continue through NOVEMBER 19th; see the INDIEGOGO page here.
