Former CUMULUS News-Talk KMJ-A-F/FRESNO PD SKIP ESSICK has joined crosstown ONE PUTT BROADCASTING as the cluster's News Director, reports the FRESNO BEE's RICK BENTLEY.
ESSICK will be expanding the cluster's news breaks, starting with one- to- two-minute breaks seven to eight times a day on Oldies KYNO-A and Classic Rock KJFX (95.7 THE FOX), with news added to other stations in the group (Alternative KFRR, Classic Hip-Hop KJZN, Sports KFIG-A (940 ESPN FRESNO), Sports KFPT-A (790 ESPN RADIO THE DEUCE), and AC KJWL (JEWEL FM 99.3)) after NEW YEAR'S DAY.
ESSICK, since leaving KMJ in 2014, served as a consultant with CHILDERS MEDIA GROUP, with COMPASS BROADCASTING News-Talk KGED-A (AM 1680 THE ANSWER)/FRESNO as a client; he then was a part-owner of KGED, but has sold his 15% interest in that station while continuing to consult it.
