On WEDNESDAY (11/16) COLUMBIA RECORDS welcomed a group of music and radio VIPs out to THE UNDERGROUND MUSEUM in HOLLYWOOD for "AN EVENING WITH JOHN LEGEND."
JOHN LEGEND introduced his new album "Darkness And Light" and played several new tracks for the audience including: "I Know Better" "Penthouse Floor" (f. CHANCE THE RAPPER), "Darkness And Light" (f. BRITTANY HOWARD), "Overload" (f. MIGUEL), and "Right By You".
This was followed by a Q&A with LEGEND and Co-Producer/Writer BLAKE MILLS where they discussed the writing of the album, their focus on lyrical content, influences such as CURTIS MAYFIELD and MARVIN GAYE, and the role of today's composers to be informed on social matters.
They also discussed the album's title "Darkness And Light" and how it reflects the uncertainty in the world, and finding light, love, optimism, and how that theme would coincide with the birth of LEGEND's daughter, LUNA.
JOHN LEGEND then introduced the new video for his current hit single "Love Me Now" explaining the message that now is the time to enjoy being with the ones we love. He then performed three songs on piano including "All Of Me," "Surefire" and "Love Me Now."
Among the notable VIPs in attendance was none other than legendary singer/composer STEVIE WONDER. Thank you again to COLUMBIA RECORD's AIMIE VAUGHAN-FRUEHE, DONNA HAYNES, KATHLEEN BRODERICK, JAMES WHITE and the entire label staff for a great night of music.
