With a large contingent of personal friends and industry colleagues there to support him, “BOB KINGSLEY’S COUNTRY TOP 40” host BOB KINGSLEY was inducted into the NATIONAL RADIO HALL OF FAME’s 28th annual class last NIGHT (11/17) at the MUSEUM OF BROADCAST COMMUNICATIONS in CHICAGO.
KINGSLEY was one of 10 inductees, and was presented by CUMULUS’ nationally syndicated personality BLAIR GARNER and PETE FISHER of the GRAND OLE OPRY. Additionally, a biographical video was shown, documenting KINGSLEY’s background and his early days in radio. Country artists GARTH BROOKS and KEITH URBAN offered congratulations via video messages, with BROOKS and wife TRISHA YEARWOOD including an arena filled with Country fans chanting KINGSLEY’s name. URBAN addressed KINGSLEY directly, saying, “You make everyone feel like family; thank you for everything you’ve done for me.”
Once on the podium, in typical KINGSLEY fashion, he was prepared, positive, concise and heartfelt, thanking supporters for their efforts to gain his HALL OF FAME induction; his team for years of service; and on a very touching, emotional note, his wife NAN KINGSLEY choked up and needed a breath while thanking her, ”With all my heart.”
Also inducted last night: GEORGE C. BEASLEY; DELIILAH; THE JEF & JER SHOW’s JEFF DETROW, JERRY CESAK, and Producer TOMMY SABLAN; STEVE HARVEY; KIDD KRADDICK; TONY ROBERTS; NEIL ROGERS; AND MICHAEL SAVAGE.
