"A FAT WRECK: The Punk-u-mentary," a movie about the groundbreaking punk label FAT WRECK CHORDS, founded by NOFX front man FAT MIKE, comes out tomorrow on VOD, Blu-ray/DVD and digitally via THE ORCHARD and SOMETHING KREATIVE.
The successfully crowdfunded music doc premiered at DALLAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL and is the first to feature puppet reenactments. It was produced by OPEN-ENDED FILMS and directed by first-time director SHAUN M. COLON.
The punk-u-mentary tells the story of founders FAT MIKE (of the legendary punk band NOFX) and his ex-wife ERIN KELLY BURKETT, spanning the birth, growth, struggles, and survival of the FAT WRECK CHORDS label. Half inspirational story of chosen family and community, half debauchery and occasionally involuntary drug use, the film is the "Citizen Kane" of puppet-driven punk-rock music documentary moviemaking.
The movie features commentary from members of NOFX, FOO FIGHTERS, BAD RELIGION, RISE AGAINST, AGAINST ME! and more.
FAT WRECK CHORDS also recently released a book and album as companion pieces to the movie.
