FAST COMPANY has included iHEARTMEDIA on its list of “10 Bold Rebrands That Made A Big Difference.” CLEAR CHANNEL rebranded as iHEARTMEDIA in 2014; FAST COMPANY wrote that "Emphasizing digital could help it compete with PANDORA and SPOTIFY. The change also moves away from a name that had become synonymous with corporate blandness."
The list included such rebrands as BELL SYSTEM's stylized 1969 bell logo, IBM's 1972 "eight bar" redesigned logo, DATSUN's name change in the global market to NISSAN in 1981, BANANA REPUBLIC's 1991 conversion from a tropical motif to a sleek upscale image, FEDEX's now-familiar purple and orange logo with a negative-space arrow, INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF PANCAKES' abbreviation to IHOP in 1994, ANDERSON CONSULTING's adoption of the ACCENTURE name in 2001, AIRBED AND BREAKFAST becoming AIRBNB in 2009, and GOOGLE's renaming its corporate entity to ALPHABET last year.
