UMG's SpinnUp Digital Distribution/Discovery Platform Reaches 100,000 Participating Artists In Europe

SPINNUP, the digital distribution service dedicated to supporting and discovering unsigned talent has reached its first 100,000 artists milestone. Founded in STOCKHOLM by UNIVERSAL MUSIC SWEDEN in 2013, SPINNUP has now launched in NORWAY, DENMARK, GERMANY, the U.K. and, most recently, FRANCE, with further territories set to follow in 2017.
For a fixed annual fee per release, SPINNUP provides unsigned talent with all of the necessary tools to distribute their music directly to fans via APPLE MUSIC, SPOTIFY, iTUNES, DEEZER, AMAZON, GOOGLE PLAY, RHAPSODY and TIDAL. SPINNUP artists control their own rights and royalties while gaining access to a sophisticated artist portal with intelligent streaming data and social media statistics.
SPINNUP's scouting community is designed to discover and help incubate the artists and future hits, operating independently in each territory, with a network of 100 scouts currently searching for the best talent within the platform. Unlike other digital distributors, SPINNUP is strategically integrated into UMG, with its scouting team feeding directly into UMG A&R teams in each country.
Since launch, 29 SPINNUP artists from SWEDEN, DENMARK, GERMANY, U.K. and the U.S. have been signed by UMG labels. The most successful of these signings, VIGILAND, has now been streamed in excess of 250 million times on SPOTIFY, and is now certified 15 x platinum in SWEDEN.

To celebrate the milestone, SPINNUP U.K. is launching SOUND ADVICE – a campaign that will offer free single releases for U.K. artists from NOVEMBER 21st through DECEMBER 31st. During this time, SPINNUP will have three additional guest scouts from UNIVERSAL MUSIC U.K. labels - ISLAND RECORDS, POLYDOR RECORDS and VIRGIN EMI, searching for new talent within the platform and giving feedback directly to artists. In addition, a live Q&A will take place with ISLAND RECORDS Strategic Marketing Director GLENN COOPER with additional activity to run throughout the campaign.
