Without details or preamble, a memo from CLEAR CHANNEL Sr. VP/Programming TOM POLEMAN was released today concerning the exit of WWPR/NEW YORK PD MICHAEL SAUNDERS:
"Please be advised MICHAEL SANDERS is no longer with CLEAR CHANNEL. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavors. For the time being, (VP/Urban Programming) DOC WYNTER is Interim Program Director. Please direct any programming questions or issues that you would normally send to MICHAEL to DOC WYNTER. DOC is arriving tonight and will be in the station tomorrow. Any press inquiries should be directed to (SVP/External Communications For Radio & Public Relations) LISA DOLLINGER."
Additionally, a few hours later, it was announced that KHTS (CHANNEL 93-3)/SAN DIEGO PD DIANA LAIRD was relieved of her duties. No word on who is replacing her at this time.
The dismissal of SAUNDERS and LAIRD comes on the heels of a CLEAR CHANNEL press release yesterday (10/11) regarding the ouster of two employees for "inappropriate conduct" following the conclusion of an internal "pay for play" investigation connected with the NEW YORK STATE Attorney General ELIOT SPITZER and SONY BMG settlement.
LISA DOLLINGER was unable to comment on the matter.
