The NEW YORK POST is reporting that several senior correspondents, anchors, and producers from CBS RADIO NEWS have accepted buyouts from the network and are leaving after distributor WESTWOOD ONE cut its fees.
Among the departures listed by the POST are WASHINGTON correspondent BARRY BAGNATO (a 30 year veteran of the network), afternoon anchor HARLEY KARNES (24 years), anchor BILL WHITNEY (32 years), and Executive Producer CHARLIE KAYE (34 years). The POST, reporting that a source told it that CBS RADIO NEWS "took a big haircut in the new WESTWOOD deal, as expected,' says that more exits are expected.
In addition, WASHINGTON Bureau Manager HOWARD ARENSTEIN disclosed that he also took a "targeted buy-out" and is leaving after 32 years.
