CBS RADIO Top 40 KLUC/LAS VEGAS is ready to roll on the 18th Annual CHET BUCHANAN and the Morning Zoo Toy Drive. Each year, BUCHANAN lives atop a 30-foot scaffolding for 12 days, collecting toys and raising awareness for children in need in southern NEVADA. This year’s Toy Drive began at 6a, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1st, and continue until 10a, MONDAY, DECEMBER 12th.
On average, CHET collects over 100,000 toys, over $250,000 in gift cards, and over 3,500 bikes, which are then distributed through our charitable partner, HELP OF SOUTHERN NEVADA. Last year, he collected a record breaking 30 tractor trailers of toys, 5,783 brand new bikes and $430,315 in Gift Cards and cash.
“This year’s Toy Drive has started very quickly. On day one, we kicked off with special guests ZARA LARSSON and CHUMLEE from PawnStars, both stopping by with donations," OM/PD JB KING said. "Day two, saw 50 MPH winds chilling everyone to the bone, but also featured a call from ADAM SANDLER to show support and donate $10,000. This morning, day five, we enjoyed live CHRISTMAS carols from LOS 5 and a huge cash donation from the local WALGREEN stores in LAS VEGAS, who dropped off a ‘big check’ for $104,294.
"At last check, the 18th Annual 98.5 KLUC CHET BUCHANAN and the Morning Zoo Toy Drive we are currently working on filling truck #7, have over 1,000 bikes donated and more than $135,000 in gift cards and cash."
