BEASLEY MEDIA GROUP Rock WMMR/PHILADELPHIA's PRESTON & STEVE lived in the parking lot of XFINITY LIVE! in SOUTH PHILLY for an entire week from MONDAY, NOVEMBER 28th through FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2nd, to encourage listeners to donate food to PHILABUNDANCE.
The duo collected 1.3 million pounds (over 683 tons) of non-perishable food items, representing the largest amount in the event's history, dating back to 1998. Listeners and local businesses also contributed over $74,000 in cash. The combination results in over 1.4 million meals that PHILABUNDANCE is able to provide to hungry individuals in the DELAWARE VALLEY.
Performers who lent their support included PHILADELPHIA EAGLES CONNOR BARWIN and JON DORENBOS, KELLY RIPA, THE RECORD COMPANY, MAYOR JIM KENNEY, KEN CASEY, BOYD TINSLEY, M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN, members of SIXX A.M. and SHINEDOWN.
For the third straight year, donors were invited to two free nighttime events inside XFINITY LIVE! – a rock show from GRAMMY-nominated THE RECORD COMPANY and a comedy show featuring RORY ALBANESE, DOOGIE HOMER, PAT HOUSE and JAKE MATTERA. Carnival rides and games and daily client-prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner were also provided for all donors.
SUBARU OF AMERICA’s largest donation from a business, 422,647 pounds, earned first prize -- a live PRESTON & STEVE broadcast from their headquarters in CHERRY HILL NJ.
