Our friends at BRIDGE RATINGS share with ALL ACCESS, "Year-end is always a good time to look back at the year. 2016 has been stellar for music consumers of all ages. On-demand streaming has taken a giant leap forward this year as a confirmed radio programming tool and with billions of streams tracked this year, BRIDGE RATINGS has published its Top 100 most-streamed songs (all genres). The list is varied but R&B/Hip-hop dominates consumption this year."
- 62% of the top 1000 were released 2010-2015
- 49% of the top 1000 were released pre-2015
- 10.5% of the top 1000 were released 2000-2010
- 8.2% of the top 1000 were released pre-2000
The number of on-demand streams in 2016 was 78.7 Billion, an increase of 95% over 2015 based on BRIDGE RATINGS tabulations.
Hip-Hop/Rap increased to 32% of all streaming consumption in 2016. Country increased to 6.6%.
