FCC Chairman TOM WHEELER has offered to resign from the Commission if it means that the Senate will then move to confirm Commissioner JESSICA ROSENWORCEL's nomination for another term on the Commission, reports THE HILL.
The site reports that WHEELER's move, which is intended to placate Republican Senators who want a slot left open for a third Republican Commissioner to be nominated by President-elect TRUMP, may be part of a last-minute deal being negotiated by Senate leaders to unblock ROSENWORCEL's confirmation, which has been held up for about a year. A deal needs to be done before the Senate adjourns if ROSENWORCEL is to return for another term.
