ENTERCOM Rock WAAF/BOSTON's annual "Rock for Change" three-day fundraiser WEDNESDAY through TODAY (12/7-9) pulled in over $105,000 for the GREATER BOSTON, WORCESTER COUNTY and NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANKS, bringing the total raised over the last 25 years to over $1.6 million.
The broadcast, starting with GREG "HILL-MAN" HILL's show on WEDNESDAY morning at 6a (ET) and running through middays with MIKE HSU and afternoons with MISTRESS CARRIE (and HILL staying on to co-host with them), included song requests for donations, with songs requiring larger donations the further they strayed from the station's normal format.
“For decades, WAAF and their listeners have creatively raised funds and awareness about hunger for the GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK, WORCESTER COUNTY FOOD BANK and the NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK and we are all incredibly thankful for this partnership each and every year,” said GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK President/CEO CATHERINE D'AMATO. “This year’s ‘Rock for Change’ was outstanding. WAAF raised over $105,000, which is the equivalent of about 315,000 healthy meals for people in need. Thank you to WAAF and your loyal listeners for playing your role in ending hunger in our community.”
ENTERCOM BOSTON Dir./Marketing ADAM RALSTON added, “Every year we’re overwhelmed by the generosity of the WAAF listeners and sponsors while being equally impressed with their diverse musical selections. 2016’s donation total shattered the amount raised in 2015. The WAAF staff is honored to be able to contribute to ending hunger.”
