LONG ISLAND RADIO BROADCASTING AC WBAZ/WATERMILL, NY afternooner WALKER VREELAND exits to relocate to NEW YORK CITY, where he will produce his autobiographical monologue "From Ship to Shape," continue his voice over work as well as his podcast, "Interview with the Artist."
"I am so grateful to have spent the last 9 years on WBAZ and the last 10 years working for LONG ISLAND RADIO BROADCASTING,” VREELAND said in a statement. “I am indebted to LAUREN STONE, STEPHANIE BITIS and HARRY WAREING for this invaluable opportunity. But most important, I want to thank the listeners for sticking with me all these years."
The decision follows VREELAND’s recent illness and subsequent surgery, which he has shared with the WBAZ community. "You can run from your essential nature but you can't hide, said Owner LAUREN WALKER. “Eventually push comes to shove, and for me the 'shove' came in the form of illness: something that forces you to get real with yourself, real quick; to stop delaying the change you know you need to make, and resisting who you truly are and what brings you the most joy."
