RCA NASHVILLE artist CHRIS YOUNG has partnered with TOYS FOR TOTS throughout his NOVEMBER and DECEMBER stops on the "I'M COMIN' OVER TOUR" to encourage fans to bring a new, unwrapped toy or book to his shows for less fortunate children in each local community (NET NEWS 11/21). Now, having wrapped the tour, YOUNG has decided to extend the challenge to fellow CMA Board Of Directors members in an effort to collect unwrapped toys from the music community in NASHVILLE that will be delivered to children in GATLINBURG, TN who have been affected by the recent GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS wildfires. "TENNESSEE is my home, and the families of GATLINBURG have lost so much -- I'm glad to have the opportunity to help bring smiles to the children here at CHRISTMAS time," said YOUNG.
COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA) members are being asked to bring unwrapped toys to the annual member party on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13th at CMA's new corporate offices. CMA will be accepting donations through FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16th at its 35 Music Square East, Suite 201 location in NASHVILLE. ON TOUR LOGISTICS has agreed to transport the toys from NASHVILLE to GATLINBURG free of charge on MONDAY, DECEMBER 19th.
"We are asking our industry colleagues to give so that children who have nothing left have something to hope for this holiday season," said CMA CEO SARAH TRAHERN. "We have many artists and CMA members with strong ties to EAST TENNESSEE, and we are thankful to CHRIS for spearheading this effort. Recovery in the region will take time, but getting a cherished toy into the hands of a child who has lost everything will hopefully spread some needed joy."
