UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY head basketball coach JOHN CALIPARI is launching his own podcast. CALIPARI's own website COACHCAL.COM has its own podcast that launched a month ago with hosts METZ CAMFIELD and BRENT CARNEY, but the new weekly half-hour show will be Coach CAL's own; he also hosts a weekly radio show with TOM LEACH on a network based at iHEARTMEDIA Sports WLAP-A/LEXINGTON.
In a series of tweets on Twitter TODAY (12/12), Coach CAL wrote, "I’m always looking for what’s next and how we can be first. It happened with Twitter, Facebook and having a world-class website. I was approached to do a podcast. My answer was, 'What’s that?' When I was told it was another chance to separate our program, be about more than bball & have conversations w/ good friends, I said yes. It will only be 30 minutes per week from my house. Ellen had to approve because it was her time. First one coming up this week."
UPDATE 12/13: The podcast, "CAL CAST," will be represented by MIDROLL MEDIA and has debuted with CHARLES BARKLEY as the first guest. “This podcast is a new way for me to connect with people and to talk honestly with high profile guests who all have very interesting stories and bold opinions,” said CALIPARI in a press release. “I’m really going to have fun with this. Sure, we’ll talk basketball, but with many of my big guests we’ll talk about a variety of things that keep life and the conversation interesting.”
