Condolences to family and friends of longtime HONOLULU radio personality and concert promoter "UNCLE TOM" MOFFATT, who died MONDAY (12/12) at 85, according to the HONOLULU STAR-ADVERTISER.
MOFFATT, a DETROIT native, came to HAWAII to go to the UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII in 1950 and began his radio career there at KIKI-A, hosting at Top 40 stations KHVH-A, KPOA-A, and KPOI-A, alongside the late RON JACOBS. At the same time, MOFFATT began promoting shows at major venues including NEAL S. BLAISDELL CENTER and ALOHA STADIUM, with artists like ELVIS PRESLEY, FRANK SINATRA, THE ROLLING STONES, MICHAEL JACKSON, WHITNEY HOUSTON, and many others, local and international, and ran two labels, PARADISE RECORDS and BLUEWATER RECORDS. Most recently, MOFFATT hosted a SATURDAY morning show, "UNCLE TOM'S ROCK AND ROLL DRIVE IN," at SALEM Oldies KKOL (KOOL GOLD 107.9)/HONOLULU.
