Actor, songwriter, and television host ALAN THICKE died TUESDAY (12/13) after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son CARTER in BURBANK, CA. He was 69.
THICKE, a Canadian native best known for his role as JASON SEAVER, patriarch of the sitcom clan on ABC's "GROWING PAINS" in 1985-92, appeared on many TV shows over the years, with appearances this season alone on NBC's "THIS IS US," NETFLIX's "FULLER HOUSE," and ADULT SWIM's "THE ERIC ANDRE SHOW" and his own "UNUSUALLY THICKE" on POP (formerly TV GUIDE NETWORK). He also hosted CTV's "THE ALAN THICKE SHOW" and the syndicated "THICKE OF THE NIGHT," hosted several game shows, wrote for "MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN" spinoff "FERNWOOD 2-NIGHT," and wrote many familiar TV theme songs, including "DIFF'RENT STROKES," "THE FACTS OF LIFE," "THE WIZARD OF ODDS," and more. THICKE was the father of singer ROBIN THICKE, one of two sons from his first marriage to actress GLORIA LORING.
