CBS RADIO Top 40 KLUC/LAS VEGAS' 18th annual CHET BUCHANAN AND THE MORNING ZOOToy Drive netted a huge haul of 6,700 bicycles, 30 COCA-COLA tractor trailers full of toys, and $442,669 in cash and gift cards.
Among the donations to morning man BUCHANAN's perennial campaign to give needy children a better holiday were $15,000 from CRISS ANGEL, $10,000 each from ADAM SANDLER and STEVE AOKI (calling in from LONDON), $5,000 from "PAWN STARS" RICK HARRISON and CHUMLEE, $4,600 in basketball tickets from UNLV head coach MARVIN MENZIES, $500 from CARROT TOP, over $104,000 from WALGREEN'S, a pile of toys collected by ventriloquist TERRY FATOR, and 1,041 bicycles and over $100,000 from the local gas station/convenience store/car wash empire TERRIBLE HERBST. BUCHANAN spent 12 days atop a 30-foot scaffold in the NV ENERGY parking lot on W. Sahara Avenue at S. Jones Blvd.
"98.5 KLUC’s CHET BUCHANAN AND THE MORNING ZOO Toy Drive would have not be this successful without the support from the LAS VEGAS community, along with the dozens of businesses and celebrities that contribute to this event year after year,” said CBS RADIO LAS VEGAS SVP/Market Manager TONY PERLONGO. “The KLUC Toy Drive has become an annual tradition for local families and companies, and will continue to be a part of the LAS VEGAS holiday tradition for years to come.”
