What are your listeners doing when they are not listening to your station? Technology is moving quickly and radio needs to keep pace. JACOBS MEDIA's web-based TECHSURVEYS are the foundation for how many stations formulate their digital strategy. TECHSURVEY13 is the largest survey about technology ever conducted for radio.
It focuses on learning what your audience is doing when they're not listening to you. But it also flips that on its side by explaining why your audience enjoys your station even with so many media options available.
The first public reveal of this ground-breaking data happens at WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT 2017 at the W HOTEL, HOLLYWOOD at noon, THURSDAY, MAY 4th presented by JACOBS MEDIA President, FRED JACOBS. Register now for WWRS 2017 to be present!
How Techsurvey13 Works:
Participating stations send a customized link to their email database members to take a comprehensive survey about media and entertainment. All respondent information is kept confidential. JACOBS MEDIA does not retain email addresses or discreet listener data.
Stations can participate in two different ways:
- No fee – This allows participation in the results webinar, along with receiving national data
- A small fee based on market size – Stakeholder stations receive all the national data, participation in the webinar, as well as an in-depth look at their unique audience, their format's audience, including their station's "Media Usage Pyramid" and "Brand Platform Pyramid."
12 formats, 4 generations measured. All you need is a solid email database to participate. A short video demo is below.
Broadcasters can sign up online www.jacobsmedia.com/techsurvey and/or contact LISA RIKER at lisa@jacobsmedia.com or call JACOBS MEDIA at (248) 353-9030 for more information.
Look At The Changes From 2005 To 2016
TECHSURVEY13, powered by NUVOODOO, goes into the field in JANUARY and FEBRUARY, providing stakeholder stations with a unique view of their own audiences, as well as format trends to help design digital strategies.
Here are some highlights from last year, and what TECHSURVEY13 will offer participating stations in 2017:
- The radio industry talks about the "connected car," but the new battleground for radio is at home. Connected TVs have changed the way consumers watch television. On-demand is the new black, and it's impacting radio listening and habits. How much has on-demand grown year to year?
- Podcasting is showing growth, and TS12 gave stakeholders a leg up for identifying key podcast categories by format. How much has it grown? And is it having an impact on real-time listening?
- The Mobile Revolution continues. Music and radio-centric apps remain hugely popular, and TS13 will help broadcasters learn the most popular in-app features.+
- Last year's Techsurvey explored how often listeners visit station websites. In TS13, we'll dig deep to uncover the reasons why they visit station sites, and what motivates them to keep coming back.
- "Connected car" ownership continues to grow. In this year's survey, we'll continue to track the share of audio usage in the car: AM/FM vs. satellite vs. streaming services. And we'll get more information about how drivers feel about Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and autonomous cars.
- How well is radio maintaining its hold on the traffic franchise? In last year's study, we saw the rise of Google Maps, especially among Millennials. We'll track that data by generation and by format to keep radio ahead of the digital pack.
- What jobs are consumers hiring radio to do, given all the choices in front of them? By format and by generation, TS13 will provide the map to help radio operators navigate the changing media entertainment and information space.
And in new questions for TS13, we'll explore:
- The impact of voice command devices like Amazon Echo & Google Home
- Video and the appeal of Facebook Live
- How Bluetooth audio (Sonos, Bose) is changing the at-home listening equation?
- Progress being made by NextRadio and HD Radio
