Former WCCM/Lawrence, MA GM, WBZ/Boston Host, WHDH/Boston PD John Bassett Dies At 92

Condolences to family and friends of former WCCM-A-WCGY-F/LAWRENCE, MA GM, WBZ-A/BOSTON overnight personality, and WHDH-A/BOSTON PD JOHN BASSETT, who died DECEMBER 27th at 92, according to WHAV-LP/HAVERHILL, MA.

BASSETT was one of WBZ's lineup of five local personalities when that station dropped its NBC network programming in 1956.  He moved to afternoons at WORL-A/BOSTON in 1959 and later became PD at WHDH, moving to CURT GOWDY's WCCM and WCGY in 1973 as GM; he stayed n with COSTA-EAGLE when GOWDY sold WCCM to that company in 1997 (the FM was sold to AMERICAN RADIO SYSTEMS in 1994).  He retired in 2008.
