The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA) will honor touring veteran RANDY "BAJA" FLETCHER with its first-ever CMA Touring Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual CMA TOURING AWARDS (formerly known as the SRO AWARDS) at MARATHON MUSIC WORKS in NASHVILLE on MONDAY, JANUARY 23rd. FLETCHER will be recognized alongside winners in 15 categories (NET NEWS 11/17/16).
The CMA Touring Lifetime Achievement Award has been established to honor an individual who has accomplished the highest level in the Country music touring field, who has achieved both prominence and stature at the highest level, who has positively impacted and contributed to the growth of touring throughout a course of years that have proven to have an unprecedented historical impact on Country music fans and the industry alike, and whose presence will have a long-term positive impact on Country music and CMA for generations to come. FLETCHER has been on the road nearly 50 years, including a 10-year run as stage and production manager for WAYLON JENNINGS, a five year run with RANDY TRAVIS, 18 years with BROOKS & DUNN, and the past six years with KEITH URBAN, among others.
"Over the course of his amazing career, BAJA has worked with countless artists, concerts, and events," said CMA CEO SARAH TRAHERN. "He has been an integral part of some of the genre's most ambitious tours, the careers of some of Country music's biggest icons, and the Country community. The respect that everyone who has ever worked with BAJA has for him proves that he is a perfect fit to be the first recipient of this Award."
