SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC RADIO News-Talk KPCC/PASADENA-OS ANGELES "TAKE TWO" co-host ALEX COHEN is moving to mornings as the station's local "MORNING EDITION" host, effective FEBRUARY 13th. With COHEN's move, "TAKE TWO" will continue as a one-hour show 9-10a (ET) with A MARTINEZ continuing as host; LARRY MANTLE's "AIR TALK" will move up an hour to 10a-noon; and "FRESH AIR" will add an airing at Noon and will continue to also air at 8p.
"With so much happening locally, nationally and globally, we wanted Alex to be the first voice our audience hears in the morning," said SCPR VP/Content MELANIE SILL. "She's a well-known and highly respected journalist, and her wealth of hosting experience is just what our listeners want and need.
SILL added, "These changes not only strengthen KPCC's morning and midday programming, but they also reflect SCPR's commitment to top-quality news coverage and civic engagement in today's intense news environment. We continue to be among the top public radio stations in the nation in hours of locally produced daily programming." And on MARTINEZ, SILL said, "A's journalism, broadcast skills, rapport with audiences, knowledge and love of SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and established success at KPCC and ESPN equip him well to be the voice of a program built for audiences who care about what makes this place tick."
