Condolences to family and friends of BALL STATE UNIVERSITY's INDIANA PUBLIC RADIO and PBS affiliate WIPB-TV/MUNCIE, IN Executive Director and GM J. ALLAN (AL) RENT, who died TUESDAY (1/17) after a lengthy battle with cancer, reports INDIANA RADIO WATCH.  He was 73.

RENT co-owned WLBC and WXFN-A/MUNCIE with "GARFIELD" cartoonist JIM DAVIS, MORRY MANNIES, and other partners for several years and hosted WLBC's morning show, and was well-recognized as a host of several shows and television play-by-play voice of BALL STATE UNIVERSITY basketball on WIPB-TV.  He also worked at BALL STATE in 1967-70 and again starting in 1993; he returned to WIPB and IPR in 2015.
