FCC Chairman Ajit Pai Names Brendan Carr Acting General Counsel, Announces Staff Appointments

New FCC Chairman AJIT PAI has announced his staff appointments and has named an Acting General Counsel as well.
In the wake of HOWARD SYMONS leaving the General Counsel post on FRIDAY (1/20), PAI has appointed his Wireless, Public Safety, and International Legal Advisor BRENDAN CARR as Acting General Counsel. PAI said, “I am very pleased that Brendan has agreed to return to the Office of General Counsel to lead it. He is a lawyer’s lawyer, and I look forward to working with him and his team to ensure that as the agency seeks to deliver digital opportunity to every American, it does so consistent with the expressed will of Congress.”
The staff appointments include keeping MATTHEW BERRY as his Chief of Staff and LORI ALEXIOU as his Confidential Assistant; Wireline Legal Advisor NICHOLAS DEGANI has been upped to Senior Counsel; Office of Strategic Planning Acting Deputy Chief JAY SCHWARZ has been named Acting Wireline Advisor; Media Bureau Legal Advisor ALISON NEMETH has been named Acting Media Advisor; the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau's RACHAEL BENDER has been named Acting Wireless Advisor; Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau Policy and Rules Division Chief ZENJI NAKAZAWA has been named Acting Public Safety and Consumer Protection Advisor; and Enforcement Bureau Management Analyst KIM MATTOS has been named BERRY and DEGANI's Acting Executive Assistant.
PAI said, “I am honored that this talented team has agreed to help lead the Commission. I look forward to working with them and the other skilled professionals at the agency to deliver digital opportunity to every American.”
