Former CBS RADIO Sports WKRK-F (92.3 THE FAN)/CLEVELAND morning show producer J.G. SPOONER has been sentenced to 30 months in jail and $16,000 in restitution for stealing over $7,000 from a GOFUNDME campaign he established to aid a woman with cystic fibrosis and for a concurrent rent scam, reports CLEVELAND.COM.
SPOONER, called a "heartless con man" by prosecutors, was sentenced by CUYAHOGA COUNTY Common Pleas Court Judge BRIAN J. CORRIGAN for the crimes. SPOONER was first charged with stealing money from a GOFUNDME campaign for ALLYSON THADEUS-ZAPPE, a childhood friend, after offering to help publicize the fund. He was also charged with a rental scam in which he posted a home for rent on Craigslist without having ownership or permission to rent the property, pocketing deposit money from at least six people.
SPOONER was a morning host at LEGEND COMMUNICATIONS Country KLGT/BUFFALO, WY before returning to CLEVELAND to work at THE FAN. He was fired by THE FAN after his arrest and pleaded guilty on NOVEMBER 7th.
