TRUMPER Adult Standards KRZS (STAR 97.5)/PHOENIX is flipping today (10/27) to ALAN BURNS & ASSOCIATES' Rhythmic AC format as "MOViN 97.5," under new calls KMVA.
TRUMPER CEO and station GM JEFFREY TRUMPER says, "This is an exciting new format that is making an impact in markets such as LOS ANGELES, DALLAS, SAN FRANCISCO, ST. LOUIS, SEATTLE, SALT LAKE CITY and PORTLAND. The numbers for the summer book in SEATTLE were very impressive in the 18-49 and 25-49 demos. There’s nowhere in the VALLEY that listeners can turn to and hear this blend of music. It’s not Hip-Hop, Urban, or Hot AC. It’s a well-researched, tested, and tightly programmed format that serves a previously underserved market. Women in their 20s, 30s and 40s can tune to MOViN and hear their favorites from the '80s and '90s mixed with today's best pop-rhythm. I have every confidence this format will be a hit in the PHOENIX market."
JEFFREY TRUMPER admits that STAR listeners may be upset with the format switch, but he believes that the change will be a positive one. "STAR has attracted a very loyal and enthusiastic fan base but has not achieved the numbers we expected," he says. "However, we don’t plan on abandoning the STAR audience -- we’re working on finding a new location for the format and hope to have an announcement in the near future."
