The winners of the 48th NAACP IMAGE AWARDS were revealed SATURDAY (2/11) during the live broadcast from PASADENA CIVIC AUDITORIUM in PASADENA, CA. The 2-hour special was aired on TV ONE and hosted by ANTHONY ANDERSON.
These awards celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, literature, film, and music. BEYONCE lead the way among recording artist with 5-awards. The winners in the recording categories are listed below.
- Outstanding New Artist: CHANCE THE RAPPER
- Outstanding Male Artist: MAXWELL
- Outstanding Female Artist: BEYONCE
- Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration: “Freedom”--BEYONCE f/KENDRICK LAMAR
- Outstanding Jazz Album: "Latin American Songbook"-- EDWARD SIMON
- Outstanding Gospel Album (Traditional or Contemporary): “One Way”--TAMELA MANN
- Outstanding Music Video: “Formation” --BEYONCE
- Outstanding Song (Traditional): "I See A Victory”--KIM BURRELL and PHARRELL WILLIAMS
- Outstanding Album: “Lemonade”--BEYONCÉ
- Outstanding Song - Contemporary: “Freedom”--BEYONCE f/ KENDRICK LAMAR
