AMPLIFI MEDIA's STEVE GOLDSTEIN offers his view on the growth of podcasting in his latest post on his "Blogstein" blog.

In the piece, GOLDSTEIN attempts to address the oft-repeated question “Why isn’t podcasting bigger?” by counseling that "the lens needs to be adjusted properly to see the growth."  GOLDSTEIN illustrates the point with numbers from the EDISON RESEARCH "Share of Ear" study that notes a sharp rise in listening to spoken-word material via podcasting among 13-34 years old, accounting for almost 1/3 of speech listening for that age group and indicating that the growth is accelerating. 

And he adds that "As technology becomes easier with smartphones, voice assist devices such as AMAZON's Echo become more prevalent and infotainment systems in cars become friendlier, podcasting is poised to grow more rapidly."
