PEARL RECORDS artist GARTH BROOKS celebrated in high style this WEEKEND in EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA to mark the sale of the five millionth ticket sold to his "GARTH BROOKS WORLD TOUR WITH TRISHA YEARWOOD." The celebration commemorated BROOKS breaking his own record of selling five million tickets in 100 cities during his 1996-1998 tour; this time around, BROOKS hit the mark in only 60 cities.
The ROGERS PLACE ARENA in EDMONTON hung a banner from its rafters to celebrate the milestone, and the banner will remain there hanging alongside championship banners of the EDMONTON OILERS and the EDMONTON OIL KINGS. BROOKS was also presented with two plaques honoring the monumental ticket sales figures. Additionally, BROOKS was greeted from the stage by a video message from hockey legend WAYNE GRETZKY congratulating him on the accomplishment. See the full celebration video here.
Additionally, TMZ reported that BROOKS rewarded the five millionth ticket holder with celebratory prizes of their own. TMZ stated that the lucky couple received a LEXUS SUV, a NISSAN truck, a $5,000 AMAZON shopping spree, a $5,000 EDMONTON MALL spree, a trip for two to the WYNN LAS VEGAS, and tour merch from BROOKS and YEARWOOD.
