ROBERT O'CONNOR, one of the pioneers of the SMOOTH JAZZ/SMOOTH AC format at the #1-rated KIFM/SAN DIEGO, has passed away, according to www.smoothjazznetwork.com. The station's loyal followers and ratings success spawned a WAVE movement that was repeated across the country. 

BOB left the station in the mid-'80s to start his own consultancy, then to program WNUA/CHICAGO, before moving to LOS ANGELES to work for NORMAN LEAR. Returning to the SAN DIEGO area, O'CONNOR reinvented himself as a techie, working as an APPLE CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL and audio/visual consultant/installer.
