Condolences to iHEARTMEDIA Top 40 WKSC (103.5 KISS FM)/CHICAGO morning star FRED of the FRED+ANGI IN THE MORNING show, on the loss of his grandfather, HOWARD "FRITZ" FREDERICK at age 90.
Not long after his military service, he became a broadcast engineer and eventually moved into radio station management. He rose to become the GM of WIRL-A/PEORIA, and oversaw the purchase of sister station WSWT and WHOI-TV for MID AMERICA among other broadcast acquisitions for the company during his tenure. Later in his career, FRITZ and his wife BEE, along with several other MIDWESTERN broadcasters, were the principals in the acquisition of their own radio properties: KBIZ/Ottumwa, IA, WIBX and WIBQ/UTICA-ROME and KKJO/ST. JOSEPH, MO. Before retirement, FRITZ was a broadcast and management consultant.
Funeral services will be held on SATURDAY, MARCH 11 at 10a at THE ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH in SCOTTSDALE, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name are being accepted by PILOTS N PAWS at PilotsNPaws.org. PnP is an organization that incorporates both FRITZ’s love for aviation and animals for which his grandson is an active pilot volunteer. Donations are also being accepted at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH’s building fund in SCOTTSDALE, AZ.
