The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK OWNED BROADCASTERS (NABOB) sent a letter to FCC Chairman AJIT PAI on FEBRUARY 24th reversing its position on newspaper-radio cross-ownership while calling for the Commission to reconsider its decision not to look at creating an incubator program.
In the letter, submitted as part of the Quadrennial Regulatory Review, NABOB admits to having opposed lifting the cross-ownership ban in the past but, citing PAI's dissent that listed several major media mergers like COMCAST-NBCUNIVERSAL, AT&T-DIRECTV, and CHARTER-TIME WARNER CABLE-BRIGHT HOUSE NETWORKS and the NATIONAL NEWSPAPER PUBLISHERS ASSOCIATION's support for eliminating the cross-ownership rule, NABOB now supports the rule's repeal.
NABOB's position ties its support for repeal with a request that the FCC revisit the idea of an incubator program, proposed by NABOB over two decades ago.
