Okayplayer CEO Jayson Jackson Names Rachel Hislop Editor-In-Chief

QUESTLOVE-founded website OKAYPLAYER CEO JAYSON JACKSON has named RACHEL HISLOP Editorial/Content Chief.
JACKSON, a veteran entertainment executive, talent manager, film and theater producer, has been at the company since 2016. Both he and HISLOP will take charge of the hub’s evolution and progression, with new initiatives and innovations in the pipeline for 2017.
Commented HISLOP, “I grew up with OKAYPLAYER. I truly believe it’s an important voice within the contemporary urban community and I am thankful to JAYSON, DAN PETRUZZI and the whole team for this opportunity.”
Added JACKSON, “As soon as I joined OKAYPLAYER, I began to think about identifying someone that could lead us into the digital content and editorial space, while maintaining our unique voice. RACHEL is the perfect person for this job. She brings a wealth of accomplishment and perspective to our team that is crucial in the media space.”
OKAYPLAYER.com is undergoing a physical reboot of the site’s look and editorial team, as well as content direction, expanding its editorial coverage to matters of social justice, arts and culture, sports and entertainment. The company's merchandising business has recently enjoyed significant growth.
HISLOP most recently served as Digital Content Manager for BEYONCE's PARKWOOD ENTERTAINMENT, where she helped spearhead online strategy for the release of "Lemonade." She has also held the position of Style Editor at GLOBAL GRIND, and written for the likes of NYLON REFINERY 29, WAD MAGAZINE, and HEAT FREE HAIR BLOG.JACKSON is a TONY and EMMY-winning producer, who also received an ACADEMY AWARD nomination in 2016 for producing the first NETFLIX original documentary, "What Happened, Miss Simone?" The founder of SEVEN DAYS ENTERTAINMENT managed LAURYN HILL during the release of her historic solo debut "The Miseducation of LAURYN HILL," which went 8x-platinum, broke the BILLBOARD record for “highest first-week sales from a female artist,” and achieved five GRAMMY Awards among a 10 nominations. He also managed the artist MOS DEF for seven years and broke the artist SANTIGOLD in the U.S. in 2007 with her debut album. He was named OKAYPLAYER CEO last year.
