MIKE CARRUTHERS is bringing his daily radio feature "SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW" to an end after 37 years and almost 10,000 episodes, effective MAY 26th, but the show will live on as a long-form podcast. The feature debuted in DECEMBER 1970 on WFTQ-A/WORCESTER and grew to air on hundreds of stations including CBS RADIO News WBZ-A/BOSTON, News KNX-A/LOS ANGELES, and News WBBM-A-WCFS/CHICAGO and COX MEDIA GROUP News-Talk WDBO-F (NEWS 96.5)/ORLANDO.
CARRUTHERS said, “It is just not possible to continue given the climate and economics of network radio – at least for an independent producer like me.”
“It’s going to feel weird to NOT do something I have been doing every day since 1979. But it has been a good run and it is time to go,” added CARRUTHERS. “I am very proud of the work I have done on the radio. The fact that it ran successfully for so long makes me feel great.”
