TIMES-SHAMROCK Alternative WFUZ/WILKES BARRE-SCRANTON has re-branded from "FUZZ 92.1" to "ALT 92.1." The station is shifting from more gold-based and will be championing more new music.
COO MITCH DOLAN of TIMES-SHAMROCK was quoted in the locally owned CITIZENS’ VOICE, talking about the driving force of the local alternative listener. “They have always been interested in cutting-edge music,” he said. “One of the most interesting developments is their appetite for new music exploration and discovery. It’s just more important than it ever has been, and we’re listening to that.”
Originally launched in SEPTEMBER of 2010, WFUZ was first known as FM 92.1, and relied heavily on alternative gold. About two years later, the station re-branded as FUZZ 92.1, and began to play more current alternative music, while still relying on a gold-heavy product.
“FUZZ was a unique brand that took the station to great heights, but this was a natural evolution that we feel will help raise the profile of the radio station in NEPA,” said Brand Manager/PD/MD TOM FERGUSON. “We are rededicating ourselves to our listeners in NEPA to bring them the best alternative radio station in the area, and we hope that’s reflected in what we do.”
ALT 92.1 is currently running jockless.
