Longtime CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WLW-A/CINCINNATI sports talker ANDY FURMAN exits the station, and the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER reports that he was fired after ripping BENGALS wide receiver T.J. HOUSHMANDZADEH as a "racist" on his OCTOBER 6 show.
FURMAN was suspended for the incident on OCTOBER 13 after the player's agent complained about the comments, which followed HOUSHMANDZADEH failing to appear for a paid appearance on the show during the team's bye week; FURMAN said on the air that HOUSHMANDZADEH had called him a "punk-ass white boy," a charge HOUSHMANDZADEH denied.
Neither CLEAR CHANNEL nor FURMAN would comment about the incident, and BILL "SEG" DENNISON will continue to fill in on the nightly "SPORTSTALK" show until a permanent successor is named.
