CUBA GOODING, SR., a noted '70s soul singer and father of the OSCAR-winning actor CUBA GOODING JR., was found dead in a car parked on VENTURA BLVD. in WOODLAND HILLS, CA on THURSDAY (APRIL 20th), according to police and the LOS ANGELES COUNTY CORONER's office.  He was 72.

Authorities said they found no indication of foul play, but an autopsy is pending.  Several empty liquor bottles were found in the car, while TMZ reports a possible overdose.

GOODING was best known as the lead singer of soul group THE MAIN INGREDIENT, which found success in the early '70s with the hit single, "Everybody Plays The Fool."

GOODING is survived by his wife SHIRLEY and four children, including the actors CUBA GOODING JR. and OMAR GOODING as well as APRIL and TOMMY GOODING.
