'Potentially Deadly' Infection Forces Elton John To Cancel Nine Shows

ELTON JOHN is home in THE U.K., after being treated for a "potentially deadly" bacterial infection caught during a tour.

The BBC reports Sir ELTON spent two nights in intensive care and cancelled 9 concerts in LAS VEGAS. "The singer became violently ill at the end of a tour of SOUTH AMERICA last week, requiring him to return to the U.K. for urgent treatment."

A statement by his management said infections of the kind suffered by the star were "rare and potentially deadly". It gave no other details.
