JACOBS MEDIA's TECHSURVEY13 -- which will have its debut at the upcoming WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT 2017 at noon on THURSDAY, MAY 4th – consists of more than 51,000 respondents representing well more than 300 radio stations across NORTH AMERICA.
The surveys were completed in JANUARY and FEBRUARY. THE JACOBS MEDIA team –- with partners NUVOODOO -– have been busily compiling the data and searching for new insights.
What Infotainment Features Are Most Important To New Car Buyers?
It's getting more crowded in the dashboard, but AM/FM radio is still a highly desirable audio entertainment feature. For the last several years, JACOBS MEDIA’s TECHSURVEYS have tracked key automotive-related metrics for the radio industry.
In TECHSURVEY13, 14% of respondents say they’re in the market for a new vehicle in 2017 (or had already purchased or leased one earlier in the year). Of them, nearly nine in ten say it’s important their next car or truck has AM/FM radio.
JACOBS MEDIA Pres. FRED JACOBS, who will present TECHSURVEY13 at WWRS 2017, commented, "Overwhelmingly, consumer demand for broadcast radios in new cars has been steady and robust since we first started asking the question. But we're also seeing increased interest in connectivity, especially Bluetooth and the ability to connect a smartphone."

"At least two in ten also mention Wifi and a media system like Ford Sync or Chrysler Uconnect. And we continue to see rising demand for Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto, an important feature for 18% of prospective new vehicle owners."
JACOBS concluded, "There is a great deal of data about automotive and “connected cars” in TECHSURVEY13 to help radio better understand how its audiences consume media. We look forward to presenting the top-line findings at the WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT 2017 in HOLLYWOOD MAY 3, 4, and 5 with the TECHSURVEY13 reveal on MAY 4th at noon. Hope to see you there."
