EMMIS News-Talk WIBC/INDIANAPOLIS will fill the gap left by 11a-1p (CT) host GREG GARRISON's stepping down from his midday duties by doubling up on TONY KATZ, with KATZ continuing to host "INDY'S MORNING NEWS" 6-9a and then taking over GARRISON's 11a-1p slot on WIBC and statewide syndication with "TONY KATZ TODAY," starting JUNE 12th.
In other moves coming on the same day, the afternoon "CHICKS ON THE RIGHT" -- AY JO CLARK and MIRIAM WEAVER -- are moving to 9-11a. RADIO AMERICA's DANA LOESCH stays in the 1-4p slot, and JASON HAMMER and NIGEL LASKOWSKI move from 9-11p to 4-7p. ABDUL HAKIM-SHABAZZ is exiting weekdays but will continue with a weekend show and writing for WIBC's website and his own indypolitics.com.
“There is no replacing an icon like GREG,” said PD DAVID WOOD. “You ask, ‘what is the best way to serve, inform and entertain our growing audience?’ What we arrived at is a lineup that offers familiar personalities with the addition of energetic voices that will continue to engage listeners in spirited conversation and conservative viewpoints.”
“The CHICKS had expressed interest in an earlier time slot that allowed them to better manage their growing online presence,” added WOOD. “TONY KATZ coming back on from 11a-1p will allow us to syndicate his show via NETWORK INDIANA and possibly other outlets. And HAMMER AND NIGEL, the newcomers to our daytime lineup, have become popular voices on WIBC, as frequent guest hosts for the CHICKS and the nationally syndicated CHAD BENSON Show.”
“INDIANAPOLIS has been listening to GREG GARRISON for years,” said SVP/INDIANAPOLOS CHICK WILLIAMS. “He has been an incredible radio friend to us all. We feel fortunate GREG has decided to maintain his connection with our WIBC listeners as he dips his toe into retirement. Our outstanding lineup of talent is excited to follow GREG’s lead, informing and entertaining our WIBC family of listeners.”
