NPR has announced its slate of podcasts for the SUMMER, including the return of one of its most popular shows and several debuts.
INVISIBILIA's third season launches on JUNE 1st with the theme, "how real is reality?," addressing the phenomenon of different people looking at the same thing and seeing something completely different.
As previously announced, the network's first podcast for children, "WOW IN THE WORLD" with GUY RAZ and MINDY THOMAS, starts TODAY (5/15).
A new political podcast, "THE SAM SANDERS PROJECT" (a working title), with the "NOR POLITICS" commentator, will begin on JUNE 19th. Pilots for the show are available via NPR ONE.
Comedian and "WAIT, WAIT... DON'T TELL ME" panelist PAULA POUNDSTONE's "LIVE FROM THE POUNDSTONE INSTITUTE" is set for a JULY 8th premiere; the show, taped before a live audience and making light of the plethora of research studies in the news, is being produced with help from affiliate SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC RADIO News-Talk KPCC/PASADENA-LOS ANGELES.
Hip hop DJs ADRIAN "STRETCH" BARTOS and ROBERT "BOBBITO" GARCIA are reuniting for "WHAT'S GOOD WITH STRETCH AND BOBBITO," premiering JULY 19th.
And a new international podcast, "ROUGH TRANSLATION" with NPR international correspondent GREGORY WARNER, will be launching in AUGUST.
In addition, NPR member stations will be able to air an hour-long show bundling special radio broadcast versions of podcasts "PLANET MONEY" and "HOW I BUILT THIS." The new offering will start in JULY.
"We are expanding the range of our programming by giving a platform to new voices, sharing a fun new side of favorite contributors, and doubling down on immersive stories and journalism," said VP for Programming and Audience Development ANYA GRUNDMANN.
