Third Coast/RHDF Competition Open For Entries

The THIRD COAST INTERNATIONAL AUDIO FESTIVAL/RICHARD H. DRIEHAUS FOUNDATION's 2017 THIRD COAST/RHDF COMPETITION is now open for entries for outstanding new audio stories produced around the world by radio and podcasts. The early deadline is JUNE 13th and the late deadline is JULY 11th.
Categories include Best Documentary (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Honorable Mention, Directors' Choice), Best New Artist, Radio Impact, Best News Feature, Skylarking (fun stories), and Best Documentary: Foreign Language. Winners will receive cash awards of $1,000 to $4,000, free registration to the THIRD COAST CONFERENCE and awards ceremony NOVEMBER 9-11 in CHICAGO, a license for HINDENBURG Journalist Pro editing software, and a spot on "BEST OF THE BEST: THE 2017 THIRD COAST FESTIVAL BROADCAST." Entry fees range from $35 for student early filings to $75 for later entries.
Judges for the first round will be STARTUP's LUKE MALONE; IN THE DARK's SAMARA FREEMARK; LATINO USA's NADIA REIMAN; independent radio producer JONATHAN ZENTI; INVISIBILIA's YOWEI SHAW; THIRD EAR's TIM HINMAN; CRIMINAL's LAUREN SPOHRER; and WBEZ/CHICAGO's NATALIE MOORE. Final round judges will be NPR's N'JERI EATON and GREGORY WARNER, WNYC STUDIOS and THE NATION's KAI WRIGHT, THE HEART's KAITLIN PRIEST, STEVE WADHAMS (formerly of the CBC), COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY's KERRY DONAHUE, independent radio journalist LORETTA WILLIAMS, and HEARKEN's JENN BRANDEL.
