UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORKS (USRN) syndicated "TONY & KRIS" morning show is set to end as the hosts, TONY RANDALL and KRIS ROCHESTER, embark on separate ventures after a 25-year partnership. The duo announced the departure in a pair of blogs YESTERDAY (5/17). Next FRIDAY, MAY 26th will be the duo's final show.
"The 'TONY & KRIS' show is coming to an end," blogged ROCHESTER. "It's our 25th year together, and it seems like a good number to end on. It's been an amazing ride, and I'm so thankful for all of it...the places we've been able to visit, the friendships we've made, the great people we've been able to work with and learn from, and so many other great experiences. Most of all, I'm thankful for the great listeners of the show. It truly has been amazing. TONY has been a fantastic morning show partner/friend/brother, and I've spent over half my life working with him every weekday. It's been a lot of fun, which makes this change bittersweet." Added RANDALL in his blog, "Over the last 25 years, I've had the good fortune to watch my friendship with KRIS ripen in the best way. We were friends before we were business partners, and I truly believe that's why we've been able to last so long as a radio team. Now, as we're both well into our 40s, and we've put 25 years of radio shows behind us, it seems to be a good time to stretch our legs and spread our wings. We've both felt the pull to do other things in radio, television and digital, and beyond. We'll continue to be best friends; we'll continue to make each other laugh. We'll root each other on in whatever endeavors we undertake."
"TONY & KRIS" originally launched the nationally syndicated version of their show in late 2009 (NET NEWS 10/28/09). The pair met in 1991 after both launching radio careers in 1986 in the GADSDEN-ANNISTON, AL area. After coming together to launch a morning show partnership, the duo landed at WILLIAMS COMMUNICATIONS Country WHMA/ANNISTON-OXFORD, AL before heading to ENTERCOM Country KSON/SAN DIEGO for a ten year run. RANDALL and ROCHESTER next headed to then-CLEAR CHANNEL crosstown Country KUSS before departing the station in 2008 (NET NEWS 9/22/08). Currently, ROCHESTER can be reached here, and RANDALL can be reached here.
