FCC Commissioner JONATHAN ADELSTEIN takes his usual concerns about public input to the ownership-rules review to a different forum -- the op-ed page of the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE.
In SUNDAY's edition, a column written by ADELSTEIN, a STANFORD graduate, tells BAY AREA residents that last month's unofficial open forum in OAKLAND provided "refreshing wisdom on the need to prevent further concentration of media ownership," contrasted to "what we hear inside the Capitol Beltway, where lobbyists from the largest media companies roam the city demanding even more power and size."

ADELSTEIN repeats his oft-stated concerns about the Commission's treatment of public input and criticizes HEARST and MEDIANEWS' ownership of most of the BAY AREA's daily papers and cutbacks in local news at TELEMUNDO's KSTS-TV. The tag to the column says that a decision on the rules is "likely in MARCH 2007."
